Fascia Installation

B&C Northern Construction provides expert fascia installation tailored to the extreme temperature swings and high winds of North Dakota.

Fascia boards cap the exposed ends of your roof rafters, providing a finished appearance and a mounting surface for your gutter system. In North Dakota's climate, fascia boards endure extraordinary punishment from ice, snow, wind-driven rain, and temperature extremes. Bare wood fascia boards are among the most maintenance-intensive components of a home's exterior, requiring frequent painting and eventual replacement as moisture inevitably penetrates the finish and causes rot. B&C Northern Construction eliminates this maintenance cycle by wrapping fascia boards in custom-bent aluminum coil stock. Our fascia wrapping process begins with careful removal of existing gutters and inspection of the underlying wood board. Rotted sections are cut out and replaced with kiln-dried lumber treated for moisture resistance. A layer of roofing membrane is applied over the wood surface to provide additional moisture protection beneath the aluminum wrap. The aluminum coil stock is then custom-bent on site using portable braking equipment. Each piece is measured and formed to precisely fit the specific dimensions and profile of your fascia board, including any crown molding or drip edge details. The aluminum is fastened with color-matched trim nails and sealed at joints with high-quality exterior caulk. This wrapped fascia system creates a virtually maintenance-free finish that protects the structural wood beneath from all weather exposure. Combined with properly sized gutters, wrapped fascia provides decades of trouble-free performance.

The profile and dimensions of fascia boards vary significantly between homes built in different eras in North Dakota. Older homes often feature wider fascia boards with decorative crown molding profiles, while modern construction uses simpler, narrower boards. Our portable brake equipment can form aluminum wraps for any fascia profile up to twelve inches wide, and we carry coil stock in over twenty standard colors to match virtually any existing trim color scheme. For homes with non-standard fascia dimensions or complex architectural details, we fabricate custom pieces in our shop before arriving on site, ensuring precise fit and minimizing installation time.

Ice dams pose a particular threat to fascia boards in North Dakota. When ice accumulates at the roof edge, it traps water that backs up under shingles and drip edge, flowing directly onto the fascia board behind the gutter. Untreated wood fascia absorbs this water, which then freezes and expands, accelerating rot and splitting the wood fibers. Our aluminum fascia wrapping system with underlying membrane protection creates a barrier that prevents this moisture from reaching the wood substrate. For homes with chronic ice dam issues, we recommend combining fascia wrapping with improved soffit ventilation and attic insulation to address the root cause of ice formation while simultaneously protecting the fascia from any residual ice backup that may occur during the most extreme winter conditions common in the Williston area.
